The ideal candidate will have a robust technical background in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, or biochemistry, and will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This role requires proficiency in managing complex patent prosecution tasks, supporting due diligence efforts, and working effectively under pressure.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Support due diligence efforts related to patent prosecution and intellectual property.
  • Analyze scientific and technical documents to prepare and file patent applications accurately.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather information and address patent-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with USPTO regulations and procedural requirements.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple assignments and deadlines from various partners and clients.
  • Provide technical expertise in patent strategy, portfolio management, and related areas.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO.
  • Patent Bar eligibility; state bar licensure is advantageous but not required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, with demonstrated expertise in protecting technology.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and client-driven assignments.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, writing skills, and analytical abilities.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice before the USPTO.
  • Patent Bar eligibility.
  • State Bar licensure (if applicable).
