Job Overview
A law firm is seeking a talented and experienced mid-level associate to join its national Employee Benefits practice. The firm offers flexibility in office location, with options for candidates to be affiliated with offices in multiple cities. The successful candidate will have experience in employee benefits law and ERISA, with a focus on qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and M&A/downsizing. Duties

  • Provide legal counsel on a wide range of employee benefits issues, including ERISA, qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and M&A-related benefits matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate plan documents and other employee benefits-related agreements.
  • Advise clients on compliance with federal and state regulations regarding employee benefits.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex employee benefits issues.
  • Communicate complex legal issues in a clear and actionable manner for clients.
  • Work with senior attorneys and clients to solve problems and create innovative solutions.
  • Assist in mergers and acquisitions, with a focus on the employee benefits and executive compensation aspects.
  • Manage client relationships and develop strong connections with business and legal teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in employee benefits law, with knowledge of ERISA, qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and/or M&A.
  • Strong academic background and proven legal problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing complex legal documents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues for clients.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong client relations acumen and the ability to interact with business clients.
  • Must be admitted to practice law.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in one of the listed jurisdictions is required.
