Job Title: Patent Counsel (Electrical Engineering)

Job Overview: A law firm located in Dallas, TX is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patent Counsel with a strong background in electrical engineering. Duties:

  • Manage and prosecute patents in various technology areas, including 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor systems, memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their business goals and develop patent strategies.
  • Prepare and file patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Coordinate patent portfolio management and guide IP strategy.
  • Conduct patent research and analysis to support client's needs and strategic direction.
  • Liaise with international patent offices and manage cross-border IP matters.
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals and provide mentorship to junior attorneys.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably in electrical engineering.
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO or eligible to register.
  • Admission to the Bar or eligibility for admission.
  • Strong technical expertise in 5G, Wi-Fi, wireless technologies, AI, and related fields.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills.

Education:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration (or eligibility to register).
  • Admission to a State Bar (preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong technical proficiency in electrical engineering and patent law.
  • Experience in client management and portfolio development.
  • Proficiency in patent filing, prosecution, and strategy.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and communicate effectively.
  • Familiarity with international patent laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within teams.
