The successful candidate will hold a Master's Degree or Doctor of Philosophy in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field. This role involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and providing due diligence support. The ideal candidate must have strong time management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Conduct thorough patent searches and support due diligence activities.
  • Prepare and file responses to office actions and other official correspondence from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Advise clients on patentability, prosecution strategies, and potential infringement issues.
  • Collaborate with inventors, technical experts, and clients to ensure accurate patent filings.
  • Analyze and review patent portfolios for strategic planning and risk management.
  • Manage multiple patent prosecution matters simultaneously, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Support intellectual property litigation and enforcement activities as needed.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in patent law and relevant technical fields.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (Patent Bar eligible).
  • If applicable, licensed to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, writing skills, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • If applicable, admission to the Pennsylvania State Bar.
