A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Employment and Labor Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advising clients on employment policies, statutory and regulatory compliance, and negotiating employment and separation agreements. This role requires a combination of litigation and transactional work, with a focus on employment counseling.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on a wide range of employment law issues, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour compliance, and employee benefits.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, including employment contracts, severance agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex employment law issues.
  • Represent clients in employment-related litigation matters, including defending against wrongful termination claims, discrimination claims, and wage and hour disputes.
  • Develop and implement employment policies and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Conduct internal investigations related to employment matters and provide recommendations based on findings.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar and good standing required.
  • 4+ years of experience practicing employment law, with a focus on both counseling and litigation.
  • Strong academic credentials from a reputable law school.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivation to contribute to firm initiatives and mentor junior associates.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and dedication to client service.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience advising employers on compliance with California-specific employment laws.
  • Prior experience handling employment-related disputes before administrative agencies such as the EEOC or DFEH.
  • Familiarity with employment-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
