Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an International Trade Partner based in Naples, FL. The ideal candidate will be highly entrepreneurial, collegial, and possess at least a small book of business. The role involves advising U.S. and foreign clients on various aspects of international trade and regulatory compliance.

Duties:

  • Advise U.S. and foreign clients on regulatory requirements related to investment in the U.S.
  • Guide foreign investors through the U.S. government’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) review process.
  • Counsel clients on U.S. Customs regulations and compliance related to the import of goods into the U.S.
  • Provide expertise on trade preference programs (e.g., USMCA, CAFTA) and application of trade remedies (e.g., AD/CVD, Sec. 301).
  • Advise on compliance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Communicate with regulators regarding investigations, protests, voluntary disclosures, and settlements.
  • Handle trade litigation cases as needed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in international trade law and regulatory compliance.
  • At least a small book of business.
  • Strong understanding of CFIUS, U.S. Customs regulations, trade preference programs, and trade remedies.
  • Experience with EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with regulatory bodies.
  • Trade litigation experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in relevant jurisdictions.

Skills:

  • Highly entrepreneurial and collegial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficient in regulatory compliance and trade law.
  • Experience with trade litigation (preferred).
