Job Overview:

The Patent Agent will collaborate closely with the Intellectual Property (IP) team to draft and prosecute patent applications before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). They will also assist IP attorneys in representing clients in Patent Office proceedings, patent litigation, and general patent prosecution matters.

Duties:

  • Work closely with the IP team to draft and prosecute patent applications before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
  • Assist IP attorneys in representing clients in Patent Office proceedings, patent litigation, and general patent prosecution matters.
  • Complete patentability assessments and third-party patent searches.
  • Conduct patent diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Assist the IP team as needed with patent clearance and enforcement projects.

Requirements:

  • Patent application drafting and prosecution experience.
  • Well-developed patent database search skills.
  • Substantive academic and professional knowledge.
  • Ability to work well with others in a law firm environment.
  • Excellent time management skills for independent and collaborative work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of intellectual property experience in patent transactional matters.
  • Experience in prosecuting patent applications in mechanical and electrical engineering, with a preference for additional chemistry or biochemistry experience.
  • USPTO registration number.
  • Advanced technical degree preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
