Job Overview: A law firm in Scranton, PA is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Workers' Compensation Department with a focus on Medicare Compliance. This role involves consulting, advising, and guiding clients and fellow attorneys on Medicare issues related to workers’ compensation cases. The position requires a strong ability to manage complex legal processes, including Medicare set-asides and conditional payment searches while providing expert-level support in litigation strategies. Duties:

• Provide consultation and advice to employers, adjusters, and attorneys on Medicare issues within workers’ compensation cases.
• Educate clients on best practices for Medicare set-asides.
• Offer strategic guidance to attorneys for case resolution, including structured settlements.
• Conduct conditional payment searches and prepare Medicare submissions for approval.
• Draft settlement documents, including Medicare-specific language.
• Collaborate with legal teams to ensure adherence to Medicare compliance regulations in defense litigation.

Requirements:

• 1-4 years of experience in workers' compensation law or related fields.
• Familiarity with Medicare set-aside arrangements and compliance processes.
• Strong knowledge of defense litigation practices.
• Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the Pennsylvania Bar.
• Additional certifications in Medicare compliance or related areas (preferred but not required).

Skills:

• Proficiency in handling Medicare set-asides and compliance matters.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
