Associate Attorney needed for New York City office

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm specializing in insurance defense is seeking an experienced Civil Defense Litigation Associate Attorney for its New York office. The firm represents major corporations, business enterprises, and insureds throughout New York State. The ideal candidate will have 4-10 years of experience handling civil defense litigation matters from inception through resolution, with a focus on general liability, premises liability, construction accidents, Labor Law, and auto/municipal transportation liability.

Location:

Duties:

• Handle a variety of civil defense litigation matters, including general liability defense, premises liability, construction accidents, Labor Law, slip/trip falls, and auto/municipal transportation liability.
• Manage cases from inception through conclusion, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Represent clients in court appearances and hearings.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders regarding case progress and strategy.
• Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case strategy and trial preparation.
• Assist in trial preparation, including organizing evidence and developing case strategies.
• Maintain and manage case files and ensure timely and accurate documentation.

Requirements:

• 4-10 years of civil defense litigation experience, particularly in the areas of insurance defense, general liability, and premises liability.
• Experience with Child Victims Act cases, Labor Law, slip/trip falls, and auto/municipal transportation liability is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
• Proficiency in conducting and defending depositions.
• Prior trial experience is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of New York State and Federal Court rules.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work proactively.
• Must be licensed to practice law in New York State and admitted to SDNY and EDNY.
• Admission in New Jersey is a plus.
• Familiarity with MS Teams, Zoom, and other video conferencing platforms for depositions, court appearances, and meetings.

Education:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice in New York State, with additional admission to SDNY and EDNY.
• New Jersey Bar admission is a plus.

Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of New York State and Federal Court rules and procedures.
• Familiarity with MS Teams, Zoom, and other virtual conferencing platforms.
• Ability to manage a caseload and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
