Job Overview: A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a dedicated EOIR Immigration Attorney to represent clients in removal proceedings and other immigration matters. The ideal candidate will be experienced in immigration law and able to handle various caseloads, from detained cases to family-based petitions. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and a collaborative approach to working with clients and colleagues.

Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse workload of immigration cases.
  • Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.
  • Engage with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to determine necessary legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits and outcomes for clients.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Proven track record of advancing legal cases.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in California.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR matters, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Proficiency in Case Management Software is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
