Job Overview

A distinguished law firm is seeking a mid-level associate with 3-5 years of experience in public finance to join its Finance Practice Group. The role involves representing borrowers, issuers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in public finance transactions across sectors such as healthcare, economic development, housing, infrastructure, and education.

Location

  • Houston, TX

Duties

  • Act as bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel in public finance transactions.
  • Represent state agencies, municipalities, and governmental entities in public finance matters.
  • Handle public finance issues related to tax, securities, Uniform Commercial Code, and contract law.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents with precision.
  • Manage multiple transactions efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Engage directly with partners and clients, providing legal and strategic advice.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in public finance, including bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel roles.
  • Familiarity with the principles of tax, securities, UCC, and contract law as they apply to public finance.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex legal matters with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and an exceptional work ethic.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Timely bar admission in the state corresponding to the office location is required.

Skills

  • Strong drafting, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple transactions simultaneously under pressure.
  • Exceptional matter management skills and attention to detail.
