A law firm is seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Project Finance Counsel Or Associate Attorney for their Washington, DC office.

Job Overview:

  • Join a collaborative team of attorneys focused on clean energy and climate solutions sectors.
  • Work closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers who provide active mentoring.
  • Assume a high level of responsibility and client contact with companies ranging from start-ups to leading international infrastructure investors.
  • Gain extensive project and structured finance experience, with opportunities in renewable energy development.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and support on renewable energy project finance matters.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements for project finance transactions.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to renewable energy financing structures and regulations.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop innovative financing solutions.
  • Advise on tax equity in solar, wind, and energy storage project assets.

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of substantial transactional experience at a major law firm.
  • Focus on project finance and/or structured asset-based finance and non-recourse lending transactions.
  • Experience representing sponsors, borrowers, lenders, or investors in the renewable energy industry.
  • Strong drafting and negotiating skills.
  • Superior academic credentials and excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in asset-backed securitization or asset-backed lending.
  • Knowledge of tax equity in renewable energy projects.
  • Interest in developing broad expertise in financing renewable energy projects and portfolios.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility for admission by motion.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
