Job OverviewA prestigious law firm is seeking a Tax Associate to join its Project Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work on renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, geothermal, and other energy transition initiatives. The successful candidate will support senior associates and partners in advising developers, lenders, and investors on the tax aspects of these projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated tax lawyer with an interest in energy law and the evolving field of renewable energy incentives.LocationAustin, TexasDutiesAssist in structuring and providing tax advice on renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, geothermal, battery storage, carbon capture, and similar initiatives.Work with senior attorneys on tax credits, partnership taxation, and incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act.Support project developers, lenders, and investors with tax-related aspects of financing, mergers, and acquisitions.Draft tax opinions, memoranda, and other legal documents related to renewable energy projects.Stay informed on developments in federal tax law, particularly those relevant to renewable energy and the energy transition.Engage in client-facing discussions and contribute to team efforts on large-scale projects.Requirements2-3 years of experience as a tax lawyer, preferably with a focus on renewable energy or project finance.Familiarity with renewable energy tax incentives, particularly those under the Inflation Reduction Act.Strong understanding of partnership taxation and tax credits.Experience working on large-scale project financings or M&A transactions is a plus.Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication, analytical, and drafting skills.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.LLM in Taxation is preferred but not required.CertificationsAdmission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction (e.g., Washington D.C., New York, or other applicable jurisdictions).SkillsExpertise in federal tax law, with a focus on renewable energy and energy transition incentives.Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex tax issues clearly.Experience with project finance and M&A transactions is a plus.BenefitsHealth & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
