A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Patent Agent/Technology Specialist with 3+ years of patent prosecution experience. The candidate will represent a variety of technology companies in patent prosecution matters, ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with associates and partners, gaining extensive experience in patent strategy, drafting, prosecution, and diligence matters, with immediate client contact.

 

Duties:

  • Represent technology companies in patent prosecution matters.
  • Work closely with associates and partners on patent strategy development.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in relevant technology fields.
  • Conduct due diligence investigations.
  • Communicate directly with clients.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • At least an M.S. or M.Eng. in a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Background in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, or related fields.

 

Education:

At least an M.S. or M.Eng. in a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience.

 

Certifications:

Must be willing to take and pass the USPTO registration exam within one year of being hired.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in patent prosecution.
  • Familiarity with patent strategy development.
  • Ability to conduct due diligence investigations.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Detail-oriented approach to work.
