A law firm is seeking a Project Development Counsel with substantial experience in project development within the renewable energy or oil & gas sectors, or extensive construction experience, particularly with large-scale infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of negotiating and managing engineering, procurement, and construction agreements, as well as other development agreements. This role offers an opportunity to work on high-profile projects in renewable energy, energy storage, and power generation technologies. Candidates may focus exclusively on renewable energy and energy transition transactions or engage in a broader range of energy and infrastructure projects.

Job Duties

  • Lead the development of renewable and conventional energy projects, including wind, solar, LNG, and nuclear.
  • Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction agreements, equipment procurement agreements, and other development contracts.
  • Negotiate and draft engineering, procurement, and construction agreements.
  • Stay current on industry trends and changes in project development and finance law.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and colleagues in tax, regulatory, and real estate specialties.
  • Provide representative experience with clients in the renewable energy market on matters including project development (offtake, procurement, and construction) and/or project finance-specific transactions.
  • Apply law firm project finance experience, preferably in a sophisticated national law firm environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in construction, procurement, and project development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiating and drafting engineering, procurement, and construction agreements.
  • Strong understanding of industry trends and project development and finance law.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience with renewable energy market clients and transactions related to project development and/or project finance is advantageous.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in good standing.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in Texas or eligibility to become licensed in Texas.
