Job Overview
A growing law firm is seeking a Litigation Intellectual Property Associate Attorney to join its team in Hartford, CT. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in trademark and copyright litigation, including claims under the Lanham Act, the Copyright Act, and other intellectual property matters. This role offers the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most recognizable brands, and to contribute to pre-litigation brand protection, as well as online enforcement strategies.

Duties

  • Handle complex intellectual property and commercial litigation matters, including trademark and copyright disputes.
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct discovery, including written discovery, document production, and depositions.
  • Develop and execute pre-litigation brand protection strategies, including sending cease and desist letters.
  • Represent clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) and engage in online trademark and copyright enforcement.
  • Prepare takedown notices and Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) complaints.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in trademark and copyright litigation.
  • Excellent technical, professional, and client service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and advocacy abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and excellent client service skills.
  • Connecticut Bar admission in good standing (required).
  • Massachusetts Bar admission in good standing (a plus, but not required).

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Connecticut Bar (required).
  • Membership in the Massachusetts Bar (preferred, but not required).

Skills

  • Expertise in trademark and copyright litigation.
  • Experience with pre-litigation brand protection and enforcement strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Lanham Act and the Copyright Act.
  • Experience with TTAB disputes and online IP enforcement (preferred).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents, motions, and pleadings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
