Job Overview
A prestigious law firm in Austin, TX, is currently looking for an experienced Oil & Gas Attorney to join its team. This position offers an opportunity to work on a wide range of projects in oil and gas law, including title examinations, regulatory issues, and environmental matters. The ideal candidate will bring significant expertise in Texas oil and gas law, particularly in the oil and gas title examination. Experience in New Mexico law is a plus. This firm offers a collaborative, flexible, and family-friendly work environment.

Duties

  • Perform oil and gas title examinations and draft drilling, division order, and acquisition title opinions promptly and accurately.
  • Provide legal counsel regarding title issues and curative measures.
  • Advise clients on a variety of oil and gas legal matters, including regulatory and environmental issues.
  • Contribute to commercial and residential real estate transactions, probate and estate planning, and related litigation matters.
  • Work independently while collaborating with a dedicated team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of direct experience in examining oil and gas title instruments and drafting title opinions.
  • In-house or field landman experience is an added advantage.
  • Texas licensure is required (New Mexico licensure is a plus).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
  • A strong work ethic and integrity in all professional matters.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Texas (New Mexico license is a bonus).

  • Proficient in regulatory and environmental matters related to oil and gas law.
