Civil Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm seeks a skilled Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join its St. Petersburg office. This role is ideal for candidates with 1-3 years of civil litigation experience, with a preference for those who have worked in defense. As part of a larger team of over 120 attorneys across multiple states, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage cases, develop strategies, and gain trial experience. Duties

• Manage and lead a caseload of civil litigation defense matters, providing strategic direction throughout the case lifecycle.
• Conduct legal research and provide initial assessments and case strategies.
• Handle discovery processes, including drafting responses, taking depositions, and interviewing witnesses.
• Draft and file legal motions, pleadings, and other required documents.
• Represent clients in hearings and settlement negotiations.
• Assist with trial preparation and, when appropriate, take a leading role in trials.
• Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and staff to ensure effective case management.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of civil litigation experience, with defense experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload independently and work effectively within a team.
• Strong communication, writing, and analytical skills.
• A commitment to professional development and long-term career growth.
• Must be a current member of the Florida Bar in good standing.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• An active member of the Florida Bar in good standing.

Skills

• Proficiency in case management and discovery practices.
• Experience in litigation, including depositions, motions, and hearings, is preferred.
