A law firm in Boston, MA, is seeking a Mid-Senior Biotech IP Associate Attorney with a strong technical background in biological sciences. The ideal candidate should be committed to delivering exceptional client service, possessing a Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline, and must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in biotechnology and life sciences fields.
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Evaluate and analyze patent portfolios.
  • Perform due diligence investigations and IP-related transactional work.
  • Advise clients on IP strategies and portfolio management.
  • Conduct patent landscape analyses and competitive intelligence.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related discipline.
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • 3-8 years of relevant experience in a law firm environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in biotechnology and life sciences.
  • Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Familiarity with patent portfolio management and due diligence investigations.
  • Excellent academic credentials and a strong publication record.
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Leadership skills and ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.

Education and Certifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related discipline.
  • Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

  • Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
