Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated Bilingual Immigration Attorney to join its legal team in Times Square, New York. This full-time position requires an attorney with a strong background in immigration law, a passion for social justice, and fluency in both English and Spanish. The ideal candidate will be responsible for representing clients in immigration matters, advocating for their rights, and providing exceptional legal advice and support throughout the process.

Duties

  • Draft and file immigration petitions and applications, including family-based petitions, employment-based visas, asylum applications, U-Visa, VAWA, and naturalization petitions.
  • Review and prepare legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with immigration laws and internal policies.
  • Manage case files, keeping track of deadlines and ensuring timely filing of applications.
  • Communicate with clients, government agencies, and other parties to gather necessary information and provide updates on case statuses.
  • Conduct client intakes and assist with gathering documentation for immigration filings.
  • Represent clients in immigration hearings and interviews, including drafting briefs and supporting materials for cases such as Cancellation of Removal.
  • Stay current with immigration laws and policies to ensure accurate legal advice is given to clients.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the New York State Bar.
  • At least three (3) years of experience practicing immigration law, with a focus on immigrant advocacy.
  • Extensive knowledge of immigration laws, procedures, and regulations.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Commitment to social justice and immigrant advocacy.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar Association.
