Attorney (Trial & Appellate)

Job Overview

A well-established law firm in Manhattan’s Financial District is seeking a motivated Trial & Appellate Attorney to join its growing team. The firm specializes in real estate litigation, including trial and appellate cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of litigation and a desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The role involves managing case files, conducting legal research, drafting various legal documents, preparing for trial, and engaging in settlement negotiations.

Duties

• Organize case files, manage calendars, and adhere to deadlines

• Maintain updated client databases and manage case progress

• Develop cases by coordinating discovery and conducting investigations

• Communicate openly with clients about case progression, costs, and expenses

• Draft persuasive legal documents, including pleadings, motions, memoranda, demands, and notices

• Prepare for trial, including comprehensive analysis and assembling trial notebooks

• Strategize and negotiate settlements of civil disputes

• Independently ensure the capture of billable hours

• Conduct comprehensive legal research

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Admission to New York State Courts

• Must obtain admission to Federal District Courts within 18 months of employment

• Strong understanding of rules of procedure and trial court rules

• Demonstrated command of legal research

• Ability to assess case-specific needs and work both independently and collaboratively

• 1-2 years of experience drafting motion papers or pleadings

• Internship/Externship experience preferred

• Proficiency in computer literacy, including modern software and database operations

• Punctuality and reliability in work performance, attendance, and court appearances

Education

Certifications
