Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of experience to join its Litigation Practice Group. This position focuses on land use, zoning, eminent domain, and environmental law. The ideal candidate will have experience representing clients in litigation, administrative hearings, and quasi-judicial proceedings. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple practice groups on complex matters affecting public and private sector clients, with a strong foundation for long-term career growth.

Location:

  • Charlotte, NC

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients in land use, zoning, and environmental matters

  • Draft legal documents, memoranda, and correspondence

  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis on complex regulatory and litigation issues

  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, mediations, motion practice, and arbitrations

  • Appear before boards, commissions, and courts in judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings

  • Assist with environmental due diligence for real estate and corporate transactions

  • Collaborate with attorneys in other practice groups on interdisciplinary legal matters

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of litigation experience

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina, or willing to obtain licensure promptly

  • Experience in eminent domain and/or environmental law litigation

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a dynamic legal environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in North Carolina (required)

  • South Carolina bar admission (preferred)

Skills:

  • Knowledge of land use, zoning, and environmental regulations

  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills

  • Ability to communicate complex legal issues to clients and government agencies

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and case management capabilities

  • Experience in trial, arbitration, or administrative proceedings (preferred)

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across practice areas
