A law firm seeks an experienced Bankruptcy Attorney to join its Indianapolis, IN office. The firm specializes in corporate and civil litigation, as well as probate, estate planning, insurance claims, and civil rights, providing comprehensive legal services to clients in various states and regions. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with expertise in Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy cases to manage a high-volume caseload and assist clients in navigating complex bankruptcy proceedings. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal research, writing, and courtroom skills, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties:

  • Manage a high volume of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases from start to finish.
  • Draft and file necessary legal documents, including motions and briefs.
  • Represent clients in bankruptcy court hearings and proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in bankruptcy laws and regulations.
  • Advise clients on their bankruptcy options and provide strategic guidance on case strategies.
  • Collaborate with support staff to ensure accurate case management and timely filings.
  • Assist clients in navigating adversary proceedings and related matters.
  • Provide exceptional client service by delivering clear and effective communication.
  • Travel to outlying courts as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.
  • Strong understanding of bankruptcy laws and procedures, including Chapter 7 and 13 filings.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while ensuring compliance with all relevant legal requirements.
  • Experience with adversary proceedings in bankruptcy cases.
  • Ability to work independently while prioritizing and managing multiple files.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents.
  • Ability to travel to outlying courts for hearings and appearances.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Indiana Bar (or eligibility to waive in).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy laws and procedures.
