Mid- to Senior-level Civil Defense/Aviation Associate Attorney

A law firm seeks a mid- to senior-level Civil Defense/Aviation Associate Attorney to join its Aviation & Aerospace practice in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have experience in civil defense litigation, be comfortable handling cases in both state and federal courts, and possess strong research, writing, and pre-trial discovery skills. This role offers the opportunity to work independently and within a team on a diverse range of civil defense and aviation-related matters, with a focus on trial preparation.

Duties:

• Handle civil defense litigation cases in state and federal courts.
• Prepare and manage cases for trial, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal analyses.
• Participate in pre-trial discovery, including depositions and client interviews.
• Collaborate with team members on case strategies and trial preparation.
• Manage case files independently with minimal supervision.
• Occasionally travel for depositions, client meetings, and court appearances.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil defense litigation.
• Strong research, writing, and discovery skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience in aviation law, product liability, and/or premises liability is a plus.
• Trial skills and experience preferred but not required.
• Organized and self-motivated with the ability to handle a high level of responsibility.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
