A law firm seeks a full-time Associate Attorney to join a well-established boutique firm in Metairie, specializing in family law and estate planning matters. The ideal candidate will have experience in these practice areas and be ready to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced, supportive environment. The role offers a Monday through Friday schedule with casual Fridays and opportunities for professional growth.

Duties

  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including court filings, pleadings, estate planning documents, and accountings.
  • Respond to and propound discovery requests.
  • Make court appearances in Jefferson, Orleans, and St. Tammany Parishes.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw.
  • Assist with case management and provide support to senior attorneys.

Requirements

  • Some prior legal experience, ideally in family law and estate planning.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools, particularly Westlaw.
  • A notary license is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional, courteous demeanor with excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Louisiana.
  • Notary Public certification is required.

Skills

  • Proficient in legal document preparation, including court filings and estate planning documents.
  • Strong legal research skills with experience using Westlaw.
