A law firm in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their team. This role involves managing a personal caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a skilled Immigration Team. The Immigration Attorney will represent clients in various immigration proceedings, prepare and review immigration applications, and provide strategic legal counsel. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law and excellent interpersonal skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and handle an assigned caseload effectively.
  • Explain complex immigration concepts and offer strategic solutions tailored to clients' needs.
  • Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse workload of cases, ensuring timely progress and resolution.
  • Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review immigration applications and packets, making necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Present and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide detailed legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and guide clients accordingly.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow attorneys and legal assistants, contributing to a supportive team environment.
  • Preferably bilingual in Spanish.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian relief, EOIR matters, detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A team player who is open to collaborating, strategizing, and supporting fellow associates.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Texas or eligibility for reciprocal admission.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing immigration applications and legal briefs.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to collective goals.
  • Experience working with law enforcement and community organizations is advantageous.
