The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent prosecution, with expertise in drafting applications and handling patent-related matters. This position provides the opportunity to work on cutting-edge intellectual property cases within a collaborative environment.

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions for mechanical, electrical, and other technical fields.
  • Advise clients on patent strategy, including prosecution, litigation, and portfolio management.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze patents to provide legal opinions.
  • Collaborate with clients and team members to ensure the development of robust IP strategies.
  • Engage in client communication, including preparing detailed legal reports and correspondence.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of patent law developments and apply them to client matters.
  • Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Requirements:

  • Between 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, specifically with application drafting.
  • Expertise in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent academic credentials and a demonstrated ability to manage complex legal tasks.
  • Must be admitted to the State Bar of California.
  • Registration with the USPTO is required.

Education:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be registered to practice before the USPTO.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of patent prosecution processes and intellectual property law.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in patent-related software and tools.
