Job Title: Defense Litigation Associate Attorney - General Liability
Job Location: Stamford, CT (Hybrid remote opportunity)

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a talented Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team in Stamford, CT. This position primarily involves supporting the Medical and Life Sciences team with general and premises liability cases, as well as product liability, toxic tort, and professional liability defense for a variety of clients. You will have the opportunity to work on high-profile cases across New York, New Jersey, and federal courts, and receive training in diverse legal areas.

Duties:

  • Take and defend depositions
  • Research legal, medical, and scientific issues, collaborating with senior attorneys on strategy development
  • Draft memoranda, briefs, motions (including motions for summary judgment), pleadings, and discovery
  • Prepare detailed reports for clients, including deposition reports, medical record analysis, case evaluations, and valuations
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and manage case development
  • Participate in trial preparation, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) sessions
  • Represent clients in court, including oral arguments, motion hearings, and discovery conferences
  • Ensure a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of first-chair deposition and courtroom experience in general/premises liability and/or product liability matters
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the bar
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (New Jersey admission is a plus)
  • Familiarity with New York Courts and procedures
  • Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines
  • Conscientious, disciplined, and responsible work ethic
  • Professional, cooperative, and adaptable attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse teams
  • Military experience is welcome

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar (New Jersey Bar admission is a plus)
