A law firm is seeking an Intellectual Property Patent Agent in Indianapolis, IN.

 

Job Overview:

The Intellectual Property Patent Agent will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science. The ideal candidate will possess excellent academic credentials, strong writing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a client-focused, team-oriented environment.

 

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in areas such as chemical compounds, chemical processes, engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, control systems, consumer products, or medical devices.
  • Conduct patentability searches and prior art analysis.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to develop patent strategies.
  • Assist in patent portfolio management and maintenance.
  • Provide technical expertise during patent litigation and licensing negotiations.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science.
  • Current registration as a patent agent.
  • 2+ years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Strong collaborative skills and motivation to succeed in a client-focused, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent academic credentials and professional recommendations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science.

 

Certifications:

Current registration as a patent agent.
