Job Overview:

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join its growing team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels. With remote work flexibility, candidates must be located in the Bay Area (San Jose or surrounding cities) to attend in-person court appearances as required. Location:

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and responsibilities, and draft legal documents related to their cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings, providing clients with post-hearing advice on strategy.
  • Manage court appearances, trials, drafting motions, conducting witness interviews, and performing legal research.
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases using legal precedents and other relevant information.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of criminal defense matters.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to identify possible benefits or risks related to their case.
  • Accumulate additional evidence to strengthen client positions or counter the prosecution's charges.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and collaborate with witnesses and experts to support the case strategy.

Requirements:

  • At least 4-5 years of experience in criminal defense.
  • Proven track record handling complex criminal cases across federal, state, and local levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and contribute to case strategies.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and client management abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of criminal law and procedure.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle complex and high-stakes criminal cases.
  • Strong courtroom presence and trial experience.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • High degree of professionalism and ethical standards.
