Job Overview:
A law firm located in South Haven, MI is seeking a skilled and motivated Associate Attorney with experience in transactional law, particularly in corporate, real estate, and estate planning matters. The Associate will be responsible for drafting legal documents, providing advice, and supporting other senior attorneys in various legal activities, including mergers and acquisitions, tax matters, and estate administration. The role requires a driven and reliable professional to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while demonstrating expertise and leadership.

Duties:

  • Assist in corporate and real estate legal matters such as mergers, acquisitions, contracts, and disputes.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to commercial real estate transactions (leases, purchase/sale agreements, financing, etc.).
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda for review by senior attorneys.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal briefs.
  • Organize, review, and manage legal documents, ensuring proper coding and database management.
  • Advise clients on estate planning, including the creation of Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, irrevocable trusts, and business planning documents.
  • Provide counsel on estate, gift, GST tax, and income tax matters, focusing on high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Manage estate administration matters, including preparing and filing probate documents and attending hearings.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys on tasks and provide support as needed.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in corporate, real estate, estate planning, and business succession law.
  • Ability to gain client trust and confidently work with other client advisors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize complex legal issues.
  • Sound judgment and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
