The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, including both litigation and advisory work, and possess robust academic credentials. This role involves handling a variety of employment-related legal issues, providing guidance to clients, and representing them in legal proceedings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in employment law matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, and employment contracts.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on employment law compliance, including issues related to workplace policies, employee handbooks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, severance packages, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, briefs, and motions.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings before agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Department of Labor (DOL).
  • Handle employment law litigation, including preparing for and conducting depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to address and resolve employment disputes.
  • Stay updated on changes in employment law and industry trends to provide informed legal counsel.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals within the firm to address complex employment law issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in employment law, including litigation and advisory roles.
  • Strong academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • Proven ability to handle a wide range of employment law issues and represent clients effectively.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and court appearances.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the State Bar in North Carolina and good standing.
