Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Civil Attorney to support its Personal Injury Division. The role involves providing legal advice and representation to individuals who have been harmed due to negligence or wrongful actions. The ideal candidate will manage personal injury cases from initial consultations through settlement or trial. This position requires a commitment to thorough case preparation, effective legal strategies, and a passion for advocating for clients' rights to fair compensation.

Location:

  • Knoxville, TN 

Duties:

  • Manage personal injury cases from initial client consultations through to settlement negotiations or trial.
  • Engage in extensive client interactions, including intake review and regular case updates.
  • Gather evidence, negotiate with insurance companies, and prepare for hearings, mediations, and court proceedings when necessary.
  • Assess new potential client cases, explaining legal options and determining appropriate representation.
  • Represent clients in settlement negotiations with insurance companies, opposing counsel, and other involved parties.
  • Prepare and present strong arguments for damages, including medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
  • Draft legal documents such as demand letters, settlement agreements, and legal pleadings.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze case law, and develop strategies to strengthen client claims.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using case management software such as Lead Docket and Filevine.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks, deadlines, and legal filings.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience handling personal injury cases, including client interactions, settlement negotiations, and litigation support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite applications and case/client management software, including Filevine, Lead Docket, Vine Sign, Law Pay, and DocGen.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for legal hearings.
  • Ability to professionally represent the firm in public and client interactions.
  • Experience in client advocacy, including conducting consultations, negotiating settlements, and guiding clients through the personal injury claims process.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to secure fair compensation while ensuring clients understand their legal rights.
  • Ability to take full responsibility for work and demonstrate ownership of tasks.
  • Client-focused with the ability to proactively meet client needs and exceed expectations.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active licensure to practice law in the State of Tennessee, in good standing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bar admission in additional states surrounding Tennessee, such as Kentucky, North Carolina, or Virginia.
  • Conversational fluency in Spanish.
