Duties

  • Explain immigration concepts clearly to clients and present strategic solutions.
  • Represent both detained and non-detained clients in immigration proceedings at the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Oversee an active caseload, ensuring timely and effective client interactions.
  • Conduct in-person intakes and consultations with detained individuals at designated centers.
  • Prepare a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense.
  • Review and adjust immigration application packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to communicate changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with prospective clients, offering consultations to outline case strategies.
  • Develop strategic plans and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Analyze cases to determine potential legal benefits for clients.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs and documents for diverse immigration cases.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads effectively and drive cases forward.
  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with family-based petitions, humanitarian applications, EOIR, detention, citizenship, and other USCIS filings.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is an asset.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership and eligibility to practice law.

Certifications

  • Valid Bar license in any U.S. state, with a strong preference for California.

  • Strong organizational and case management abilities.
  • Clear, concise communication, with a strategic mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a legal team.
  • Proficiency in client counseling and legal research.
