Job Overview

A leading law firm in Washington, DC, seeks a talented and driven mid-level associate attorney with a focus on borrower-side finance. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic and growing legal team specializing in private credit, acquisition finance, and leveraged finance. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with sponsor-side private equity acquisition financings.

Duties

  • Represent borrowers in private credit transactions, acquisition financings, and leveraged finance deals.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements, security documents, and related financial instruments.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients, including private equity sponsors, on complex financing arrangements.
  • Manage transactions from inception to closing, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clients, opposing counsel, and internal colleagues, to facilitate successful deal execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in borrower-side private credit, acquisition finance, or leveraged finance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sponsor-side private equity acquisition financings is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in good standing.

Skills

  • Exceptional understanding of complex financing structures and legal documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency in managing high-pressure situations and meeting tight deadlines.
