A law firm seeks an experienced and knowledgeable construction law attorney to join a high-performing team in Baltimore, MD. The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years of experience representing various parties involved in construction projects, including property owners, contractors, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and material suppliers. The role requires expertise in managing residential, commercial, industrial, and government-related construction matters, including contract drafting, lien preparation, bond claims, delay disputes, and defect claims. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in complex construction law cases.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in construction-related legal disputes involving property owners, contractors, engineers, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Advise on and prepare various construction agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Manage and resolve claims related to construction delays, project defects, and contract breaches.
  • Draft and enforce mechanic’s liens and bond claims for clients seeking to recover funds owed.
  • Provide legal counsel on government-related construction projects and navigate the associated regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with construction professionals to develop strategies for dispute resolution and risk management.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in construction law and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction law, with a focus on litigation and contract negotiation.
  • Proven track record of handling construction-related disputes and representing various stakeholders in the industry.
  • Expertise in managing claims, including delay claims, defect claims, and lien enforcement.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, bonds, and industry-specific laws.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex cases from start to finish.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic performance, particularly in areas related to construction or real estate law.

Certifications:

  • Board certification in construction law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization is a plus.
  • Active membership in the state bar (Maryland or eligibility for admission).

Skills:
