Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a dedicated and motivated Civil Rights Associate Attorney. This position offers a unique opportunity to advocate for individuals whose civil rights have been violated. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for advancing civil rights case law.

Location:

  • Seattle, WA

Duties:

  • Screen potential civil rights cases and conduct in-depth legal research to assess their merits

  • Participate in civil rights litigation from inception to resolution, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and researching, writing, and arguing complex motions

  • Take and defend depositions, and make court appearances when necessary

  • Collaborate closely with clients from diverse backgrounds, including incarcerated individuals

  • Work with senior attorneys and other legal team members on case strategy and development

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of litigation experience, with a preference for civil rights, constitutional law, and trial experience

  • Strong research and legal writing skills, particularly with complex motions and case law development

  • Experience in handling depositions, court hearings, and appeals

  • A passion for civil rights advocacy and a desire to engage in case law development

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team of attorneys

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills

  • Expertise in civil rights or constitutional law

  • Experience with depositions, court hearings, and appeals

  • Ability to manage complex legal cases from start to finish

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
