Job Title: eDiscovery Counsel

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm based in Washington, DC, seeks an experienced eDiscovery Counsel to lead and manage eDiscovery operations in complex litigation and investigations. This role entails providing strategic guidance on eDiscovery and Information Governance, drafting high-level legal work products, managing client and co-counsel relationships, and contributing to the firm's thought leadership and business development efforts. Candidates should demonstrate strong legal expertise, client management skills, and leadership abilities to excel in a dynamic legal environment.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on eDiscovery and Information Governance, including identifying legal issues and crafting tailored solutions.
  • Provide counsel to internal teams on legal document interpretation and ensure alignment with risk management strategies.
  • Lead client engagements with minimal oversight, delivering high-quality work that meets firm standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, laws, and regulations impacting firm policies and client advisories.
  • Prepare business development plans and identify new client engagement opportunities.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering team cohesion and supporting professional growth.
  • Manage client workstreams in collaboration with merits firms, co-counsels, and expert witnesses.
  • Participate in thought leadership initiatives and industry organizations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in eDiscovery within a law firm setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in eDiscovery, Information Governance, or related practice areas.
  • Skilled in project planning, client engagement, and technical insight.
  • Strong ability to work independently and provide guidance on client cases.
  • Excellent judgment, organizational, and presentation skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar admission in one or more of the following: California, Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, or Washington, DC.

Skills:

  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and eDiscovery technology.
  • Ability to manage and mentor teams, fostering a collaborative and empowering environment.
