Associate Attorney needed for New York City office

Job Overview

A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 4-7 years of experience to join its team. The ideal candidate will be intensely interested in complex commercial litigation, class action defense, and financial services litigation. This position requires excellent writing and interpersonal skills, collaboration, and strong case management capabilities.

Duties

• Analyze, research, and draft briefs addressing sophisticated legal issues in complex litigation.
• Prepare for and argue motions successfully.
• Prepare outlines and exhibits for depositions.
• Assist in trial preparation, including preparing outlines and exhibits for direct and cross-examinations.
• Provide strategic and analytical insights to cases.
• Oversee and mentor junior associates.
• Manage case activities and ensure the effective progression of cases.

Requirements

• 4-7 years of experience in complex commercial, class action defense, and financial services litigation.
• Proven ability to analyze and research sophisticated legal issues.
• Experience in drafting high-quality briefs.
• Strong case management skills.
• Demonstrated trial preparation experience.
• Ability to be strategic and analytical in approach to legal issues.
• Experience in mentoring junior associates.
• Law Review experience preferred.
• Solid academic performance.
• Must be in good standing with the IL or NY State Bar.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Must be a member in good standing with the Illinois (IL) or New York (NY) State Bar.
