Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking an Attorney to manage a diverse caseload primarily focused on corporate health claims. The role involves filing appeals, navigating complex administrative processes, and advocating for clients with health insurers and governmental payers.

Job Duties:

  • Manage a substantial caseload of corporate health claims, including underpaid or denied medical claims.
  • File written appeals through administrative processes to resolve payment disputes with health insurers and governmental payers.
  • Quickly and efficiently review medical records and prepare well-written appeals.
  • Conduct follow-up telephone communications with insurers and payers, demonstrating professionalism and assertiveness.
  • Navigate various computer systems to retrieve and analyze information related to insurance claims.
  • Navigate unfamiliar jurisdictions and administrative processes to appeal and settle claims effectively.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate and graduate degree in Law with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive in.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, high attention to detail.
  • Clear, concise, and logical writing style.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior experience or coursework in biological sciences or healthcare is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a clinical healthcare setting is strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Leadership qualities to advise clients and support staff (legal assistants, paralegals).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and diagnostic procedures is advantageous.

Certifications (if applicable):
