Job Overview: A law firm specializing in trust and estate law is seeking a motivated Mid-Level to Lateral Trust and Estate Associate/Partner to join our team. The ideal candidate will work on various complex and challenging matters for local, national, and international clients, focusing on federal estate and gift tax planning and the representation of institutional trustees.

Duties:

  • Provide clients with legal counsel and strategic advice on trust and estate matters.
  • Draft and review estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Handle complex estate and trust administration, including tax filings and compliance.
  • Represent institutional trustees in various capacities, including decantings, mergers, and non-judicial modifications.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis about trust and estate laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Relevant experience in trust and estate law, preferably within a reputable law firm.
  • Strong understanding of federal estate and gift tax laws and planning strategies.
  • Experience advising institutional clients such as banks or trust companies is highly desirable.
  • Delaware Bar admission is preferred; willingness to take the Delaware Bar Exam is considered.

Certifications (Optional but Preferred):

  • Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) or similar trust and estate planning certification.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage complex legal matters independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to providing high-quality legal services.
