A law firm seeks an experienced Employment, Labor & Workforce Management Associate to join its Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of experience in labor and employment law, including a strong understanding of both federal and state regulations. The associate will work on a variety of employment-related matters, including litigation and providing advisory services to employers on workplace law issues. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with solid expertise in labor and employment law who seeks to contribute to a growing practice in a dynamic legal environment.

Duties

  • Handle all aspects of labor and employment litigation, including interviewing witnesses, reviewing electronically stored documents, and drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct and defend depositions and attend court appearances.
  • Interact with clients and opposing counsel, maintaining clear and professional communication.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on workplace issues, including wage and hour laws, ADA compliance, employee relations, employment agreements, reductions in force, and risk mitigation.
  • Assist in the development of workplace policies, guidelines, and strategies to reduce employment-related risks.
  • Stay up to date on current labor and employment laws, particularly those affecting employers in California.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on litigation and advising employers.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, and state-specific regulations.
  • Experience with various aspects of litigation, from case preparation to depositions and court appearances.
  • Ability to effectively provide legal counsel on workplace law issues.
  • Strong communication, research, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong academic credentials and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the California State Bar is required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, persuasive legal documents.
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment-related statutes and regulations.
  • Ability to manage complex litigation and provide strategic advice to clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently as needed.
