Business Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Business Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in general commercial, civil, and business litigation. The candidate will engage in all phases of litigation, working with a diverse national and international client base. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, strong organizational skills, and exceptional attention to detail. Proficiency in writing and analytical skills is also required. Active membership in the Iowa Bar is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in a broad range of commercial, civil, and business litigation matters, from initial case evaluation through trial and appeals.
• Draft, file, and argue motions, pleadings, and briefs with clarity and precision.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies.
• Develop and implement effective case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.
• Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, managing document production, and conducting depositions.
• Prepare for and participate in trial proceedings, including examining witnesses, presenting evidence, and delivering arguments in court.
• Collaborate with experts, witnesses, and other parties involved in the litigation process to build strong cases.
• Provide clients with regular updates on case progress and offer strategic advice based on legal research and analysis.
• Handle multiple litigation cases simultaneously, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that work product is of the highest quality.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes when appropriate.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in general commercial, civil, and business litigation.
• Recent clerkship or law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Active membership in good standing with the Iowa Bar.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Strong academic record.
