The candidate will engage in all phases of litigation, working with a diverse national and international client base. Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in a broad range of commercial, civil, and business litigation matters, from initial case evaluation through trial and appeals.
  • Draft, file, and argue motions, pleadings, and briefs with clarity and precision.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.
  • Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, managing document production, and conducting depositions.
  • Prepare for and participate in trial proceedings, including examining witnesses, presenting evidence, and delivering arguments in court.
  • Collaborate with experts, witnesses, and other parties involved in the litigation process to build strong cases.
  • Provide clients with regular updates on case progress and offer strategic advice based on legal research and analysis.
  • Handle multiple litigation cases simultaneously, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that work product is of the highest quality.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes when appropriate.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in general commercial, civil, and business litigation.
  • Recent clerkship or law firm experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Iowa Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic record.
