Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm specializing in intellectual property law is seeking a highly skilled Patent Agent to join their team in New York City. The ideal candidate will draft patent applications and manage the prosecution process before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other global patent offices.

Duties:

• Drafting high-quality patent applications in collaboration with inventors and attorneys.
• Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Responding to office actions and communicating with patent examiners.
• Conducting prior art searches and analysis.
• Assisting with patent portfolio management and strategy.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related scientific field.
• Strong ability to think critically and analyze complex technical information.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Preferably, some experience in patent drafting and prosecution.
• Must be registered to practice before the USPTO or eligible and willing to sit for the registration exam.
