Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Financial Restructuring, Bankruptcy, and Creditors' Rights team. The successful candidate will represent creditors, sureties, trustees, debtors, and committees in various bankruptcy and litigation matters. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across multiple offices, work in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to high-impact cases. A hybrid work schedule is available, and training will be provided to ensure success in the role.

Location:

  • Pittsford, NY

Duties:

  • Draft demand letters, state court motions, memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, briefs, etc.
  • Conduct legal research on factual and legal issues in insolvency and bankruptcy situations
  • Provide legal advice to creditors on collateral preservation, recovery, and judgment enforcement
  • Represent lenders in workout and forbearance agreements
  • Make court appearances in both state and bankruptcy courts
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple offices on complex cases
  • Maintain a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of litigation experience, with a preference for creditors' rights experience
  • Bankruptcy court experience preferred but not required
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • Familiarity with video conferencing platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.)
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • High organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing tasks
  • Ability to quickly absorb and process new information
  • Professional, cooperative, and flexible attitude
  • Must be conscientious, dedicated, and self-disciplined
  • Military experience is welcome

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to practice law in New York

Skills:

  • Litigation experience with an emphasis on creditors' rights
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy court procedures (preferred)
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with MS Teams, Zoom, and other video conferencing tools
  • High organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
