Senior Family Law Attorney

A law firm in Muskegon, MI, is seeking a Senior Family Law Attorney with a successful track record in mediation and trial experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching complex legal issues, drafting various legal documents, marketing the firm's services, performing discovery, managing schedules, and ensuring timely invoice approvals. Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills, including empathetic listening, are essential for this role.

Duties:

• Utilize mediation skills effectively to achieve successful outcomes in family law matters.
• Demonstrate significant trial experience with a history of success in family law litigation.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex family law issues.
• Draft memorandums, briefs, letters, and other legal documents pertaining to family law cases.
• Market personal and firm services to prospective family law clients.
• Perform discovery of electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for family law litigation.
• Conduct due diligence in all family law matters.
• Manage a schedule to allow for consultations and closure of consultations to meet production objectives, including outside regular business hours and weekend consults.
• Close consultations within a designated range, depending on the family law practice area.
• Ensure timely approval of invoices on a month-to-month basis.
• Optimize support staff utilization and productivity in family law cases.
• Accurately and completely update the case management system with fees, engagement, trust, client information, invoices, etc., as required.
• Actively engage in personal and firm brand expansion through blogs, social media posts, board, and organization participation, etc.
• Proactively seek positive feedback and reviews from successful family law client engagements.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of law practice experience, with a focus on family law.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
• Admission to the Bar in the state of practice (or eligibility for reciprocal admission).
• Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional legal research skills.
