Job Overview:
A national law firm specializing in real estate and creditor's rights seeks a Bankruptcy Attorney to join its expanding bankruptcy practice. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in representing creditors in federal bankruptcy court and will be responsible for managing a significant caseload, drafting various pleadings, and collaborating with support staff. This position offers the opportunity to grow within an established and nationally recognized law firm, supported by top-tier attorneys and resources.

Duties:

  • Represent creditors in federal bankruptcy court proceedings, including:
    • Drafting motions for relief from the automatic stay.
    • Preparing and defending secured creditor proofs of claims.
    • Defending motions to value.
    • Drafting pleadings to protect creditor interests throughout the bankruptcy process.
  • Manage a substantial caseload and direct and guide support staff.
  • Ensure systems of record are updated accurately and timely to track important dates, communications, and results.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the industry, serving as a trusted advisor to clients and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, support staff, and other firm members to ensure effective workflow.
  • Perform work in compliance with the firm’s internal systems and reporting tools.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in civil litigation, real estate, or representing servicers and financial institutions in bankruptcy matters (preferred).
  • Proven experience in representing creditors in federal bankruptcy court.
  • Strong leadership, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to work in a highly productive and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop relationships in the legal industry.
  • Working knowledge of TILA, RESPA, and FDCPA (preferred).
  • Experience in appellate practice (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with other team members.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar License in the state of Tennessee (required).
  • Additional state licenses are a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of federal bankruptcy law and creditor representation.
  • Ability to draft and defend complex legal pleadings.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead and guide support staff effectively.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
  • Proficient in legal research, drafting, and court procedures.
