Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join its labor and employment litigation team in Sacramento, CA. This full-time role involves handling complex employment matters for public agencies, educational institutions, and nonprofits. Duties

  • Conduct witness interviews and manage the discovery process.
  • Take and defend depositions, and regularly appear in court for motions and case management.
  • Draft dispositive motions, including demurrers, anti-SLAPP, motions for judgment, and motions for summary judgment.
  • Represent clients in trials, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes as needed.
  • Handle employment matters, such as wage and hour cases, PAGA, and FLSA claims.
  • Maintain extensive client contact, providing guidance on labor and employment law issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employment litigation, including wage and hour matters.
  • Strong litigation experience, including motion practice and depositions.
  • Excellent client communication skills and ability to manage cases independently.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus, though not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Proficiency in litigation, including discovery, deposition, and motion practice.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with trial and alternative dispute resolution processes preferred.
