A law firm in Northville, MI, is seeking an experienced Estate Planning and Probate Associate Attorney to join their team. The candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal services in estate planning, trust administration, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, and related areas of law.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on complex estate planning strategies tailored to their individual needs and goals.
  • Draft and review estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
  • Handle all aspects of trust and estate administration, including probate proceedings and trust funding.
  • Assist clients with guardianship and conservatorship matters, ensuring legal compliance and protection of vulnerable individuals.
  • Conduct legal research and stay current with developments in estate planning laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with firm partners and staff to deliver high-quality legal services and maintain client relationships.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and other dispute resolution proceedings related to estates and trusts.

Requirements:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar.
  • 5-10 years of experience practicing in estate planning and probate law.
  • Proficiency in drafting estate plans using tools like Wealth Counsel preferred.
  • Experience in guardianships and conservatorships, including litigation if necessary.
  • Familiarity with long-term care planning laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of nursing home Medicaid is beneficial.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple client matters efficiently.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar.
