Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Fresno, CA is seeking a dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney and will be responsible for managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires expertise in criminal defense, the ability to handle complex cases, and strong interpersonal skills.

Duties:

• Report directly to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney.
• Manage a caseload, including client interaction and coordination with the Criminal Defense Team of attorneys and legal assistants.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare legal documents relevant to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings, advise clients on strategies, and handle court appearances.
• Draft motions, conduct legal research, and interview witnesses.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases based on legal precedents and current laws.
• Manage the workload of cases, ensuring all deadlines and court dates are met.
• Provide legal analysis to clients to identify potential benefits and outcomes.
• Gather and accrue additional evidence to support the client’s case or counter prosecution charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions, including setting case strategy and obtaining information from witnesses and experts.
• Handle complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, contributing to case strategies and support.
• Utilize bilingual skills (Spanish) to communicate with Spanish-speaking clients, if applicable.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership with the California State Bar and in good standing.
• Experience handling complex criminal cases at various levels (federal, state, local).
• Proven ability to manage caseloads and client interactions effectively.
• Excellent drafting, legal research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to strategize and collaborate with a legal team.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
• High caliber interpersonal skills and professionalism.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership with the California State Bar Association.
